Have you gotten a new job? Moved to a new town or into a new house or apartment? Maybe you have made some new friends? If so, this could be the best time to start that new diet.

Scientific research studies have shown that it is times of serious changes in their lives is when most people are more open to branching out and to try new things.

New Choices Come With Change

In one study of college students, for those who stated that there were lots of changes happening in their lives, were more likely to choose a new type of snack food, such as baked veggie chips, when presented against something more familiar, like potato chips.

This actually held true for more then just food as well. These students in the midst of larger changes were also more likely to be interested in trying out different types of products, sampling new types of entertainment/music, and even more likely to check out and visit new places.

Compounding Change

So it is believed by researchers that making changes in one are of your life can sometimes have power to set off a reaction of change elsewhere. With this in mind, try harnessing some of this momentum of change the next time you find your world feeling a little upside down. Try grabbing some healthy dried fruits or baked vegetable chips. Maybe take up an exercise class or clean out your pantry of all that processed food. By finding little ways to adjust and adapt your usual habits to produce healthier changes not only to your diet, but to your life.

Very interesting. It is common sense but we are always looking for something different in a diet or to lose weight.

You are right Judy. But I believe that the whole point of this article is about teaching us the time – such as big changes in our lives – is the best time to try new/healthier foods.
