The Super Simple Home Facial

by: Judy Panfili Valone

With today’s stresses and the pollutions in the air, we find ourselves looking in the mirror and discovering our facial skin is not in the best shape. As we know, looking good helps us to feel good.

So I have decided to put together two of my favorite recipes I love to use. They are simple and quite easy to make. Feel like royalty after applying one of these on your face.

PREPERATION

OK, first things first.  You must create a mood.  After all, beauty starts on the inside.  So start by   making a lovely cup of chai tea and start to unwind a bit, lighting some candles and putting on a nice tranquil CD to start the mood off right.

Secondly, you will want to cleanse your neck and face.  Using your personal cleanser is OK though it is better to use a natural (chemical free) cleanser or a homemade cleanser.  After washing, you will want to rinse using very warm water as to help open up the pores.  Remember to not rub the towel when drying but gently pat the skin dry with a soft clean towel.

EXFOLIATE

Now, lets exfoliate our skin with a super simple cornmeal facial scrub.  This simple recipe will allow you to gently remove the dead skin cells and create a fresh glow.  This recipe can be altered by adding juice from an orange or lemon in place of water.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp – Cornmeal
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Place the cornmeal in a shallow bowl.
  2. Add enough water to make a paste. Be sure not to add to much.  If you do, you can simply add a little more cornmeal.
  3. With your fingers, gently scrub the face and neck.  Be sure you avoid the eye area.
  4. When complete, simply rinse with warm water.

MASK

Now that our skin is feeling clean and fresh, it is time to put the final touches on.  We are going to create a Banana, Sour Cream, and Honey Facial. Yet another super easy recipe that will soften the skin as well as moisturize.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 of a Banana
  • 1 tbsp of Honey
  • 1 tbsp of Sour cream

Directions:Made from a blend of black tea, and different spices. Try some today!

  1. Start by mashing the banana in a bowl with a fork.
  2. Once the banana is well mashed, blend in the honey and sour cream.
  3. After all ingredients are blended, apply your newly created mixture onto your face and allow it to remain on the skin for a minimum of 10 minutes.  This will allow the ingredients to penetrate the skin.
  4. Next with a warm damp cloth, gently wipe the mask off.

That is all there is to it.  Doing a facial a couple of times a week is great for the skin and helps to slow the signs of aging.  I usually like to set one of my days for Friday as it helps me to wash away all the craziness of the week.

I hope you have enjoy your facial.  Please be sure and leave a comment below.  I look forward to reading your comments as to how yours came out.
