With the holidays hot on our heels my concern is since I am going to basically stay on cycle 3 so I can enjoy the holiday season with family and friends not to gain any weight. So reading The 17 Day Diet book towards the end of it for tips on succeeding I see great information on none other than The Holidays. Reading this section some very useful tips to think about like don’t skip breakfast with the thought well I am going to a party later. I think many of us would think that it would be fine to do since you will eat later. WRONG! You have just started the roller coaster spiraling down that will crash and burn. Breakfast is still the important meal in the day so don’t skip it. However for holiday season I still have options. What I will do is follow cycle 1 and 2 mostly now through the end of the year which is about 7 weeks but for holiday dinner time I can still maintain weight loss with cycle 3 for special dinners. This is what the book refers to as pre-holiday dieting and it will also help me when I get to a point where I have no more weight to lose in the future.
After I have successfully lost 21 lbs. to date I don’t want to gain any of it back. Now let me talk about this past week weight loss as it’s not allot however it is still a weight loss. If I had been more diligent in my walking and exercise I would have more than likely lost a pound or 2 more. This past week I look back and even though you are allowed some pasta (within portion amount) and beans in some Turkey Chili I had it does make a difference in foods you choose working with my weight loss program. So like I said I still had a loss but can you see how out of hand that could get if you let it? If one thing is more instilled in my brain with being on The 17 Day Diet it would be what you choose and portion size. We all know exercise is important as well and every one of us should have some form that we do daily to keep us healthy and aid in weight loss.
Moving on to some helpful tips for the holidays to help myself as well as others that may have decided to also do The 17 Day Diet. I already mentioned breakfast as it helps in curbing your cravings later on so you will not give in to temptation. You can eat a lite breakfast but eat it. Plan your snacks also and don’t skip them as that will also sabotage your diet. Think about eating lighter meals to help for those party dinners. When you are at a party look over the food table for foods or appetizers that you can have such as veggies, fruit. shrimp, then make your choice and add those to your plate and walk away from the table. Walking away from the table and not looking back is always best. You should also plan on not drinking alcohol all night one is really the limit if you are on The 17 Day Diet. The rest of the night you can have seltzer water, or club soda. For the family dinners you attend make good choices as to the foods you have to select from and you can have dessert but not all of them nor 3 pieces of pumpkin pie. Small piece is always best and if you can do just 3 bites you will be doing yourself a really big favor. One thing I keep remembering when my family pulls out all the bad stuff loaded with calories is that I should not have is I don’t want to have to lose that all again. However what I must say about The 17 Day Diet is that I really like how it is designed by Dr. Moreno and the foods are what we all should be eating anyways.
I will leave you with a pumpkin pie recipe for the holidays you can have. However you must remember to share this pie with others so as not to be tempted to eat it all yourself. I will be checking in weekly with my progress through the holiday season to keep you up to date as to how I am doing and to give encourage those that need it.
